The Story Gets Bigger Each Day

Every time I approach the world from a scientific point of view (which is a lot these days with my schooling), I get enamored by my Creator. This video brings to light a whole new set of inspiration as to the wonders of our God and His creative majesty! I hope you enjoy.

Lost? No Problem!

Once upon a time, there was a rancher who lost one of his sheep. Bummer huh? Maybe it somehow got distracted and wandered away from the rest of the flock. Or maybe it came from a long line of sheep that were notorious wanderers and it was just doing what seemed normal for sheep. Or maybe it was a truly rebellious sheep and intentionally left in search of greener pastures. For whatever reason, this ball of wool suddenly discovered it was far from home without a GPS.

Good news for this little sheep because it just so happened that his owner counted his sheep every single night to see if even one was missing. And whenever he came up short, he did something about it. Here it is in the Rancher’s own words:

I’m A Total Screw Up

Derek Redmond|http://123nonstop.com/biography/Redmond,_Derek_%28I%29

Do you ever have those days where you feel like a total screw up? Like, who could love me, really? It’s hard enough to love myself. Well, I have those days often enough, and I sometimes think, aren’t I supposed to improve with age? Shouldn’t I see dramatic strides of progress in my character after all I’ve been through?

Granny’s Secret of Life!

“Being loved is the most wonderful thing in the world!” I overheard my 97-year-old grandmother say to her younger sister on the phone today. “Granny,” as I fondly call her, was responding to her sister’s expression of love before they hung up the phone, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the simple wisdom of the words coming from someone nearly a century old—someone who has experienced the gamut of life.

From birth to death and everything in between, when all else is stripped away, it is ultimately love that impacts lives.

There are few places where I imagine love can serve a greater purpose than in a hospital, especially an ER!

Moved By A Breath

Today I sat in the middle of a river near my house. Being late summer, it’s very low and one can walk all the way to the middle on exposed rocks. I love sitting there, listening to the therapeutic sound of cascading water while thinking about life and my First Love.

A couple months ago, this tame little river was a different story! We had a 50-year flood that destroyed property, bridges, and completely rearranged the path of the river. In fact, there are stretches of four-foot mounds of sand and boulders that didn’t used to be there before—all washed downstream from the raging waters.

All of this got me thinking about people.

Awesome 15: Sunday Naps

caption|Cats know the secrets of life!

Gosh, it’s Sunday, the one day a week I feel no guilt about taking a nice long nap. But seriously, if there’s anything I’ve learned from my cat, any day is a good day for a nap.

In my book, naps are sanity. Think about it. People annoy you…you ditch them and go off to a nice place wherever they are not. But if you’re like me and you often drive yourself crazy, where are you going to go? Naps are the only way you can safely take a break from yourself and nobody gets hurt.

A Skunk for the Impatient of Heart

Racing ahead of God’s leading for romantic relationships seems harmless at the time, but it always leaves behind unpleasant permeating problems, much like running over a skunk in your car. And the stench doesn’t dissipate quickly. The lingering odor of consequences continues as a reminder as to why you don’t ever want to collide with black and white stripes again. Right after my divorce a few years ago was one of those times…

Creation’s Heartbeat: The Bible’s Entry Code in Genesis 1:1

Wow. Wow. Who knew that God’s whole plan for mankind could be spelled out in one little sentence? Well, the same God who made DNA—ridiculous amounts of info in even more ridiculously small spaces—also crafted His Word. This is an entire book devoted to the layers of meaning in the Hebrew text of Genesis 1:1. Hebrew is a much more complex and meaningful language than English, and if you are like me, you will be spellbound by the beauty and intricacy of God’s message woven together from the beginning. One criticism of the book: it takes the author about 25 pages to get to the point, but once he does, be amazed.
